News & UpdatesBEYOND THE BAR: MAHMUD ABUBAKAR MAGAJI, SAN, SHARES PROFOUND INSIGHTS WITH MULAN FCT-ABUJA BRANCH.

July 24, 2025

On Wednesday, the 23rd day of July, 2025, the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), FCT-Abuja Branch paid a courtesy call to the Learned Silk, Mahmud Magaji, SAN, at his office in Wuse 2, FCT-Abuja .The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Branch, Al-Bashir Lawal Likko, Welfare Secretary, Assistant Financial Secretary and several active and financial members of the Association. The visit brought together members of the Association for an engaging session worth a lifetime reflection and was intellectually enriching.

The meeting, which began shortly after Asr prayers and extended toward Maghrib, quickly transcended the bounds of formality. It evolved into a warm and intimate exchange filled with wisdom, reflection, and sincerity. A warm atmosphere prevailed, filled with calm dignity as the Learned Silk welcomed the delegation with characteristic grace and humility, taking the members through select chapters of his life’s experiences both at the Bar and in life. He highlighted his divine tests, triumphs, and above all, his enduring reliance on Almighty Allah. One of the most touching moments of the session came when he declared, with gentle conviction:

“The greatest achievement I now seek is to memorise the Noble Qur’an, and In Shaa Allah, I will achieve it.”

It was a powerful reminder that the loftiest of ambitions are those anchored in faith. A moment to reflect more on the purpose of life. Despite the many honours and responsibilities he has borne, his heart always yearns most fervently for the memorisation of the Noble Qur’an. This deep personal aspiration, coming from someone so accomplished in the legal profession, left an indelible impression on all present.

When further asked by Mubarak A. Dantata, Esq. about the secret to success in the legal field, his response was strikingly simple yet deeply profound when he said:

“Kai dai ka riqe Allah kawai….”
(Just hold firmly unto Almighty Allah, and you will witness blissful wonders).

Amidst the heartfelt discussion, the Learned Silk graciously acknowledged a few forward-looking efforts by the FCT-Abuja Branch offering his support, graciously and gratuitously, toward the realisation of a proposed Secretariat for the Branch and the success of the forthcoming MULAN Week. His readiness to lend his voice, wisdom, and goodwill to these initiatives was both humbling and inspiring. The members present expressed deep appreciation for the Learned Silk’s efforts, which will undoubtedly serve as a catalyst for the successful execution of the projects.

As the session drew to a close, what lingered was not just the elegance of his words, but the purity of his intention. It was evident to all that this was far more than a professional courtesy but a session of renewed clarity, spiritual alignment, and shared purpose.

The Chairman extended his appreciation, sharing that this courtesy call was not only a testament to the strength of their roots as Muslim and lawyers, but also of the possibilities that lie ahead when those who have gone before reach back in grace. The Learned Silk, in word and in deed, exemplified the essence of legacy, one that uplifts, guides, and inspires.

We pray that the Almighty Allah continue to preserve the Learned Silk in strength, wisdom, and grace. May his days be lengthened in barakah, more of his aspirations be fulfilled, and his legacy continue to illuminate the path for Muslim legal professionals across generations.

The session closed with a photo session. The Chairman and all members present extended their since gratitude. We all say, Jazakumullahu Khairan to the Learned Silk.

Signed
